For my friends who wanted to know...
This is what I did with the meal planning. I spent a good day writing down all the meals me and my family like. I had a list that I would write the meals I would think of throughout the day on the counter. So, for example, if I was making lunch and a meal popped into my head, I ran to my piece of paper and wrote it down. Then to add some variety, I went to google and typed in "chicken breast recipes." (this step took awhile for a couple reasons. 1) I had to find ones that sounded good and that my family would probably like 2) I had to write down the recipes and then the ingredients that I need to buy this weekend - I do my main grocery shopping every 2 weeks. So that took awhile. Anyways, by the time I was done with that I had about 25 recipes. Then I printed a January and February calendar. And then just wrote down what days we would be having what...making sure we didn't like have 5 days in a row with a chicken-type meal. I also made Saturdays either blank or with something very easy like tomato soup and grilled cheese. Only a couple meals I had to repeat (like breakfast for dinner-my family loves it and it's easy!). I also thought of more meals after I was done so I am just writing them down on the list so when I do march and april, I have even more variety. The nice thing is is that even with the repeats, we won't have same meal for at least 3 weeks. Then I just added to my shopping list sides that can go with any meal like potatoes, rice, salad and veggies.
