Anyways, the part that was irritating to me...Because of his sleep problems and other signs of anxiety, I decided to call the doctor to try and get him in today. ( We got a new doctor starting in January, but non of us have needed to see him yet, so we've never called or gone in). This was the conversation
"Hi, I'd like to make and appointment..blah blah blah
"What's his name?' she then got all his info from me
then said, "well, since he is a new patient we do not have any openings until the end of March, but you can always take him into urgent care if you need to."
"Ummm...ok."
"well, what does he need to be seen for?"
I then told her what the problem was
"Oh, well looky here. It looks like there was a cancelation for tomorrow at 1:40. will that time work for you?'
First of all, don't doctors want new patients? If they do, why in the world would they not let new patients be scheduled for over a month. And she didn't even ask what he needed to be seen for. She just told me he was a new patient and therefore couldn't be seen for 4- 8 weeks. Oh and then by some miracle there was a cancelation and she could fit him in the schedule tomorrow. All while we were on the phone! Idiot!
Anyways, i just needed to vent for a minute. Sorry ladies.
Off to the doctor we go...tomorrow.
please note: I have much more faith in the actual doctor. I was just very irritated my the whole "new patient-can't be seen for over a month thing."

I feel bad for Blake. It must be horrible having dreams like he is having. I am happy he was able to see the dr. sooner than a month or two down the road. You should go talk to the receptionist and ask her what exactly the policy is for new patients to see the dr. when they are ill, and if it is to take them to urgent care, you will just find a new PCP who finds your family and money a higher priority
