Blake's paint disaster!
Last Fiday afternoon, Rylee and I laid down to take a little nap while Blake watched a movie during quiet time. We have been doing this often, due to my pregnancy. Blake has never had a problem with quiet time rules before, but for some reason on Friday he did. Blake came towards my room very slowly, as if he were in trouble. I asked him what he had done. He would not answer. He finally came into the room where I could see him and I saw that his hands were covered in red. "Blake what were you doing?" "Nothing." "Blake, then what is all over your hands?" "Come here, I'll show you." So he took me into the kitchen and said he was painting. I thought he had gotten into the crayola paints on top of the fridge....not too big of a deal. "Blake, WHERE did you paint?" "Over on the couch. I painted you a pretty picture." "What?" I went over to the couch and it was much much worse than I had antisipated. He did not use the washable crayola paints I had gotten them, he climbed on the fridge and found his cousin's paints that she had brought from Fiji....oil-based paints! And now this oil-based paint was all over my brand new couch Spencer got me for Christmas! The very first NEW furniture set I have ever had! I just started to cry and cry. Blake went to his room without me even telling him to. I was able to get the dark red, blood-looking stains off, but it still looks like someone spilled light pink kool-aid on it. However, it no longer looks like a crime scene, so I guess that is good. I couldn't believe it. Blake is such a good listener and Friday I guess he was just being adventurous, much to my dismay. When I went in to talk to Blake (after I was calm), he had fallen alseep. I woke him up as I cleaned all the paint off his hands and then we had a good discussion about how important it is to listen to rules and the reason why mommy was so sad. He apologized like his sweet self always does, and I just have to keep reminding myself....it's just new furniture....right?

Try coconut oil, you can get it from Walmart for pretty cheap. My aunt is a painter and over Thanksgiving she was telling us about how her granddaughter spilled her oil based paints all over their brand new carpet. She used the coconut oil and it came right out. You can't see any leftover residue or anything. Be sure to test just a little section first though... I'm sorry!
Doesn't that just figure. You get something new (and that cost a lot) and then it get ruined.
Let me know if the coconut oil works. If not, Julia's (my older sister) husband Bill owns a carpet cleaning business. He also cleans upholstery and specializes in stain removal, so he may know what you could do to get the stain out.
Thanks for the tips guys!
